The Panther DR8-M is an fully-rugged 8.4 inch tablet PC, this is an MIL Version which means that it is militairy-certified. Except MIL, it is also IP54 certified, which means it is resistant to water and dust.
The Panther DR8-M is especially designed for use as handheld or vehicle integrated usage. This is achieved with an low weight and compact dimensions, these are benefits for both applications. The Panther DR8-M optionally comes with an LED backlight, offering sunlight readability. This way you can still use the Panther DR8-M outside when the sun us shining. There are also options available for use with NVG.
You can use the Panther DR8-M for example in an industrial plant where an normal tablet (like the iPad) could breake quickly, the Panther DR8-M is fully-rugged, so it won't break when you accidently drop it. Another example of usage is mounting the Panther DR8-M in a car, let's say you're working in an very dusty environment and you sit on the passenger seat with your tablet. The operating temperature that the Panther DR8-M can be used in is between -20°C and +50°C. The storage temperature is between -40°C and +70°C.
The Panther DR8-M is running on an Intel Core 2 DUO ULV processor at 1.06 GHz, it has an Intel GMA950 Video Controller and can hold up to 4 GB of DDR2 RAM Memory. For storage it has an 500GB SATA HDD, which can be taken out and optionally replaced with an SSD. An SSD is much faster than an HDD, and has no rotating objects in it.
The Panther DR8-M has two batteries, the primairy battery is an 4400 mAh Li-Ion battery, and the secondary battery is an 7200 mAh Li-Ion battery. The Panther DR8-M also has an resistive touchscreen, which allows you to use the tablet without an external keyboard or mouse.
